FINDING THE INTERSECTION BETWEEN TWO FUNCTIONS
The Find Intersection dialog box allows you to select any two Cartesian functions that are on-screen and solve for the point(s) where they intersect. Simply select two equations from the droplists, optionally type in an initial guess for the independent variable, and press the Calculate button (or enter key). If you do not type in an initial guess, the program will find all intersection points within the domain that is currently on-screen. If you believe that there may be more intersection points that are not displayed, you need to specify a guess for the solution to seed the approximation.
Note: Because the Find Intersection feature uses Newton's method to solve the system of equations, both equations must be differentiable functions of the same variable for it to work. You cannot find the intersection of an equation that is graphed as a function of x and another that is graphed as a function of y.
