This church, built by the Jesuits after an earthquake in 1650 destroyed the previous iteration, is not the Cathedral (that's behind the photographer). Although an appeal was made to Rome to stop its construction, the pope did not act in time, so Cusco has two huge, grandiose churches on its main square.
